Maldives condemns attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Maldives made the statement in a press release published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the multiple attacks targeting economic installations and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia on March 20.

In the press release, the Maldives stated such cowardly acts of terrorism aimed at vital economic infrastructure and innocent civilians, clearly violate international law and threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and the region, and hinder global energy supplies. The Maldives reaffirmed its solidarity with the Saudi Arabian government against those threatening its security and reiterated its steadfast commitment to the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis fired missiles and drones at Saudi energy and water desalination facilities, which oil firm Saudi Aramco said did not impact supplies or cause casualties. The Saudi-led coalition battling the group said the attacks and debris from intercepted projectiles caused material damage but no deaths. It said the strikes were aimed at a water desalination plant in Al-Shaqeeq, an Aramco distribution station in Jizan, a power station in Dhahran al Janub, a gas facility in Khamis Mushait, and an Aramco liquefied natural gas plant in Yanbu.
