National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed USD27 million was spent on salaries of government employees in January.
Recently NBS began issuing Monthly Government Wage Index which details the monthly spending. The Monthly Government Wage Index divides government jobs into three categories. As such, details of the number of people employed in the public administration, education, and health sectors, as well as the amount spent on salaries for their employees, are included in the index.
USD27 million was spent in January on salaries of government salaries. In this regard, USD18 million was spent on the salaries of public administration employees. The second-largest expenditure was on the salaries of health employees which was USD 5.9 million. Meanwhile, USD3.4 million was spent on the salaries of education sector employees in January.
In January 2022, the average wage was USD1,015, as per statistics. This is recorded as an increment of USD15.86 in January 2022 compared to the previous month.
Moreover, the report states the government currently employs 27,467 individuals.
